Each teacher that has been issued a MacBook must follow these procedures:

  • The MacBook is for school use only.  Personal information placed on the MacBook is the property of Seacrest.

  • All data saved directly to the MacBook is your responsibility.  It is encouraged that you upload all data to Google Drive for data resiliency.

  • Day-to-Day care of the MacBook is your personal responsibility.  Damage inflicted to the computer must be reported immediately.  Any repairs that are necessary due to natural mechanical failure will be covered by Seacrest.  The cost of physical damage to the MacBook will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

  • The charger is your responsibility.  Loss of the charger is not the school’s responsibility.  IT will replace the charger in the case of mechanical failure.

  • Seacrest permits you to take the MacBook off campus as needed.

  • Seacrest permits you to install educationally aligned software on your MacBook.  The IT department should be notified/consulted for the Installation of said software. Installation of software without IT’s knowledge could result in the inadvertent loading of malicious software.

  • You are to keep your MacBook up-to-date with the latest version of MacOS.  IT will always announce when it is safe to update to the next generation of MacOS.  The current build that is safely tested by IT is MacOS 12.6 (Monterey).

  • Google Chrome is the recommended browser for your MacBook.  Safari is installed by default as a secondary option.  Mozilla Firefox is also an option.  If you choose to install it, please follow this link.

  • Each Thursday/Friday the next secure version of Google Chrome is deployed.  If you see the Update Now button on the upper right of your browser, please do so.  This will safely update your Chrome installation to the next version.  Open browser tabs will not be lost at relaunch.

  • As always, for any technical issues with your MacBook, please place a ticket with IT on FreshDesk.
